Loved it!

"We did the trail over 5 days, staying at Western KI Caravan Park. Following the fire in January 2020, the park is recovering and the walk was beautiful. Yuccas, eucalypts and wildflowers abound as nature recovers. We saw lots of wildlife, including goannas, wallabies, kangaroos. The best part was that we saw no one else on the trail, we had it all to ourselves!"

An amazing walk

"This walk is well worth completing but not an easy stroll. It is not a walk for children because it is easy to trip and fall on the many rocks. The first and last days are easy. There were plenty of rocks to negotiate. Even when walking on a path that looks easy care needs to be taken due to low rocks and very low stumps. The views of the coast were continually enjoyed as we walked. We saw many seals in a few places and seals in others. It’s well worth doing this walk.we did it the easy way by staying in cabins at the Western KI caravan park. Mark and Fiona drovevus to our starting point each day and collected us at the end. We only needed day packs. Some had their tents and other equipment moved each day. I admired one couple who were carrying everything they needed. They had left their car at the visitor centre. "

A great first walk for teens

"I took my 15 and 13 year olds on this walk with friends. We opted to have one backpack transported by the Western KI Caravan Park service and it made life so much easier. The walk itself is spectacular in a pristine wilderness environment. The campsites are well laid out with a shelter area for cooking and dining. We had a great five days!"

Kangaroo Island Wilderness Trail

"My wife, (62) and self (65) just completed the five day , four night 60 plus kilometre walk. We chose to do the pick up and collect after each section. We stayed at the Wilderness Retreat which was comfortable and well staffed. Price included ferry transfers for our car and two passengers to and from the mainland, 4 breakfasts, 3 packed lunches and 4 evening meals, park entries and drop off and collect from each section of our walk and entry to Kelly Caves on the last day. The walk is not difficult. We had no real issues considering our age. We completed each leg of the trip well in advance of the recommended time frame. We stopped numerous times to take photographs and admire the spectacular views, fauna and flora that KI has to offer. Highly recommend this trip. Massive sense of completion when you get to the end. The walk is well signposted and not overpowering. Plenty of seals along the rugged coast. Bring water, sunblock, hat and dress according to the weather conditions. No phone coverage at all which was a bit of a blessing. Wifi available from the Retreat to keep in touch with the outside world. Loved this trip. Tick from our bucket list."

Great one-to-one time with my 16 y.o. daughter

"The Kangaroo Island Wilderness Trail was the first-ever overnight hiking experience for myself and my 16 year old daughter. It was a fantastic experience and so great to spend some time with her in nature with no mobile phones. Day two was the toughest, but it felt like an amazing accomplishment to finish the trail, carrying everything in and out again. So proud of her...and me :). Highly recommend the experience."
