Seal Bay offers one of the most exceptional nature-based experiences in the world. Fees are invested into ongoing research and conservation efforts and through these efforts we hope to preserve the natural habitat of a wild Australian sea lion colony for generations to come. Our tours are designed to suit a wide variety of visitors - you can stay all day if you want to! There are no enclosures or cages at Seal Bay. Instead, you will be taken into the heart of the colony where our experienced guides will teach you more about these endangered animals. Visitors given a unique insight into how these endangered animals fish, surf, rest, interact with their pups and defend their territory.If you prefer, you can set your own pace on the wheelchair accessible 300 metre boardwalk which meanders through the dunes to a number of viewing platforms.

A walk among the sea lions.

"Another location to get close to nature with a beach walk through the endangered sea lion colony. The drive through the park area is impressive as is the Visitor/Interpretative Centre with its displays and educational exhibits. A guide briefs the group before heading off on the boardwalk to the beach and the sea lions, a tour lasting approx. 45 minutes and fill of interest. A number of the less agile chose the boardwalk through the sand dunes for overhead views of the colony. The park is home to the third largest Australian sea lion colony in in the country."

Awesome experience watching seals in natural habitat

"We were so close to the seals. So many wild seals meters from the boardwalk. We watched them play for ages. It’s an easy walk down to the seals. This was a highlight of our trip"

A fantastic surprise, not to be missed.

"Visiting Seal Bay is a must do when staying on Kangaroo Island. 45 minute drive on a great road from Kingscote, and close to Raptor Domain, this place was a surprise. It is home to around 1000 Australian Sea Lions and the beautiful boardwalk enables visitors to get up close to these amazing animals. There is an option to take a guided tour on the beach, but the boardwalk is more than adequate."
